JOHANNESBURG: Crusaders were crowned 2018 Vodacom Super Rugby Champions after defeating Emirates Lions 37-18 at AMI Stadium Christchurch.
The home side was leading before halftime where they were up by 20-6 by halftime.
The Emirates Lions had so much chances in the game to claim a win for themselves but they were missing all the opportunities and Crusaders had to punish them. The Champions scored two first half tries through Seta Tamanivalu and David Havili.
Elton Jantjies, slotted two penalties for the visiting team, while flanker Cyle Brink scored the Highvelders’ first try in the second half with a powerful surge from a set piece to close the gap to 23-13 but the home side soon hit back with another converted try by Mitchell Drummond to stretch their lead to 30-13.
The Crusaders heated back very fast they clinched their win by a controverted try that put the score to 37-18.
This is the Crusaders ninth tournament win and a second one in a row.
