I Need To Work On My Consistency – Zwane

By Isaac Ndou

JOHANNESBURG: Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Themba Zwane says he is more interested in putting consistent performances for the Brazilians to further cement his place in the star-studded team.

The 29-year-old put on an excellent display for Ka Bo Yellow in their 2-0 win over Polokwane City in their second 2018/19 Absa Premiership match on Tuesday night. He had however played below standards in their season-opening 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs a few days before, something he will want to avoid going forward in the season.
“I need to work on consistency. That’s very important. I need to improve in terms of finishing and making the right decisions in the final third because if you check here at Sundowns, each and every game we play we need to be on a high and deliver because there are a lot of players here who have quality. You need to work for your place. This season I want to work hard. I want to play as many games as I can,” said Zwane on the club’s website.
Zwane will hope he can take his performance against Rise and Shine into their MTN8 quarterfinals match against Golden Arrows, considering that the cup is one Sundowns have not won under Pitso Mosimane’s reign, something the players have held a discussion about with plans to change that according to Zwane.
“We normally start the season very slow and that’s why we start slow. But this time it will change. We sat down as players and talked about the fact that we have won all the trophies except this one. Now it’s time we get this one,” he added.
The Brazilians will welcome Clinton Larsen’s Abafana Basthende at the Lucas “Masterpieces” Stadium on Saturday afternoon to determine who will advance to the MTN8 semi-finals,  kick off at 15h00.
