JOHANNESBURG: Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he will take “tigers” to Morocco to take on defending Champions Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League.

The Brazilians are currently second with 5 points in Group C, three points behind the group leaders Casablanca and will go into the game knowing that a win can put them in a favourable position for progression to the next round in the tournament. Mosimane says he needs players who will give their all on the field in order to get a satisfactory result in Morocco.

“They respect us. I need to get the right balance in midfield for that match. I need tigers for that match, people who will grind to get a result. It might not look pretty but we must keep going and probing. If you get three points, then you’ll be happy. One might also be enough because we have to sort out Horoya here in our last game. That game is a do-or-die.”

“We must beat Horoya here or otherwise it means we must win in Casablanca. The Togolese might do us a favour by causing an upset and holding Horoya to a draw because I don’t think they’ll win. It’s tough in Guinea,” said Mosimane on the club’s website.

The 2017 Champions held Sundowns to a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Lucas Moripe Stadium where Downs beat Golden Arrows 2-0 in the MTN8 on Saturday. Jingles say he is well aware of what will go down in Morocco but believes they can have a good game if they avoid conceding set pieces in the game.

“Wydad are a difficult team. They know how to manage the game. They play cleverly. You must be careful of penalties. They are very good at set-pieces. We conceded a goal from a corner kick the last time we played them. When the time favours them they delay the game.

They do anything. You know the North Africans. The Champions League is a different cattle of fish. It’s an awkward tournament. But we know how to play it. It has its problems with traveling,” he explained.

The two Continental powerhouses will meet in their fifth match of the Champions League campaign on Friday night at the Stade Mohammed V Stadium,  with kick off scheduled for 20h00.
