EKURHULENI: The City of Ekurhuleni council has suspended the metro’s group chief financial officer (GCFO) Gugu Pride Malaza.

The city manager Dr. Imogen Mashazi issued Malaza with a letter requesting her to provide reasons as to why she should not be suspended on Friday. However, Mashazi found that there were no basis not to suspend Malaza, according to a statement.

Acting spokesperson for the executive mayor Mzwandile Masina, Phakamile Mbengashe says Malaza has been suspended because she failed to reveal information regarding her dismissal from her previous employer.

“Ms. Malaza has been suspended pending the finalisation of an investigation into alleged non-disclosure of information regarding her dismissal from the South African Broadcasting Corporation as required by Regulation 11 of the Systems Act of 2000,” says Mbengashe.

Investigations by the metro are expected to be concluded within the next three months.
